The following steps can only be completed once your WashU credentials have been created. You will receive an email closer to the start of your entry term with these credentials and activation instructions.
Before your WashU credentials are created, the admissions office will be sending vital information about your enrollment steps to the email address connected to your application. Please check your inbox(es) frequently to ensure that you are updated on your specific enrollment requirements.
Some tasks on this checklist may not be applicable to current/returning WashU students admitted to a new program.
- Activate your WashU Key.
- Your WashU Key is the set of login credentials used to access Workday Student and many other WashU online services. All new students receive an email notification with information about their WashU Key, Workday and their university email address.
- Note: The email comes from Connect Admin (iam-noreply@wustl.edu) with the subject line “Your WashU Key has been created.” If you do not receive your WashU Key activation email by June 1, please reach out to IT Support or call 314‑933‑3333.
- Set up and check your WashU email account daily for important messages from your academic division.
- Activate your WashU email account as soon as possible. It’s the primary way you’ll receive information from the university.
- For email and calendaring assistance, contact IT Support or call 314‑933‑3333.
- Set Up Duo: WashU 2FA Two‑Step Authentication.
- When accessing WashU systems that may contain sensitive personal information, you’ll be asked to verify your identity through the use of a second device. Enroll in Duo two‑factor authentication and Duo Mobile to easily access WashU systems securely.
- In Workday, complete your Enrollment Checklist items.
- Workday is WashU’s foundational system to support academic operations at WashU; this is where you will access course registration, billing statements and more.
- Once you have activated your WashU Key, created your WashU Email, and set up WashU 2FA Two‑Step Authentication, you must login to Workday as soon as possible to complete required onboarding tasks related to your enrollment.
- Complete the steps to get your WashU ID Card.
- Your WashU ID Card is your proof of identity on campus and grants access to academic buildings and residential facilities. Apply for your ID by August 1. Direct any questions regarding your WashU ID card to Campus Card Services.
- Note: This does not apply to online graduate and professional programs or medical students. Medical students should request a WashU Medicine ID Badge.
- Log in to Canvas and complete any assigned modules.
- Complete your iGrad Financial Literacy Module. After completion, you can explore this personal finance platform, which can help you manage your money, create a budget and search for scholarships.
- Complete Sexual Assault Prevention Training. This module will be accessible in your Workday account the week of August 4.
- Log in to WashU’s student Financial Services Portal to explore how to pay your bill and add permissions to your account.
- Explore nearby off-campus housing options.
- Review transportation options at WashU.
- Review your health care options at WashU.
- By August 1, update your health history form and provide proof of certain immunizations in the Student Health Portal (for Danforth Campus students).
- Note: New medical students should visit WashU Medicine’s New Students page for more information about health care requirements.
- Note: This does not apply for online graduate and professional programs.
- By September 5, submit a Waiver of Insurance Coverage to opt out of the Student Health Insurance Plan if you meet the minimum requirements.
- Review your Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) coverage details if you choose not to waive. All international students are required to participate in the SHIP unless there is proof of U.S. insurance through a U.S. employer via an employee parent or spouse/partner.
