Bears with Cubs

This group allows student parents to connect and develop supportive networks. Bears with Cubs hosts a number of events each year including monthly Cub Club events and the annual celebration for graduating graduate and professional students with families.

These events are informal and offer a welcoming and family-friendly environment for student parents and their children. You can find a list of upcoming Cub Clubs on the Graduate Center’s Programming & Events page.

Pregnancy and nursing

Lactation rooms are provided in buildings throughout the Danforth Campus and Medical Campus.

Menstrual products

Free menstrual products are provided in bathrooms throughout both campuses.

Additionally, the Office of Sustainability supplies free reusable menstrual products to students.

Financial resources

Child Daycare Subsidy

WashU provides a Child Daycare Subsidy to assist PhD student families meet the costs of child daycare while they pursue their studies.

Buchheit Graduate Student Family Support Fund

This fund provides financial support to full-time graduate and professional students with children who encounter unexpected expenses.

Child care resources for university employees

To promote work-life balance for WashU employees, the university provides resources for both child care and older adult care or dependent adult care, in addition to mental health resources for caregivers and children and/or older adults.
